Aussie-Nintendo reports that Nintendo will be attending the first ever EB Games Expo 2011, which was announced earlier this month. This will be the largest ever gaming event in Australia and will be taking place Saturday October 15th & Sunday October 16th at the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre. Nintendo of Australia won't be the only company headed to the event as there are plenty more of your favourites going to the expo including representatives from Xbox 360, Playstation, Sega, Activision, Ubisoft, Square Enix and THQ.

LA-MULANA Creators Making a Guide Book

It's been awhile since any La-Mulana news has surfaced. La-Mulana is an Action-Adventure sidescroller that was orignally released on the PC, but is now being developed for the WiiWare service. It plays a lot like a Metroid or new era Castlevania games. Now the creators are making a guide book to go hand in hand with the WiiWare release. I'll be placing a video after the break for those new to the game, or for those who want a refresher.

Pachter's E3 2011 Nintendo Predictions

  • Hardware and a bunch of titles at E3
  • Many games since Nintendo hasn’t shown much this year
  • Date for Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Last showing for Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Nintendo will probably say that they’ll have a Mario title at launch
  • Pachter believes the Vitality Sensor is dead
  • Pachter echoes IGN’s report of Foxconn beginning production in October
  • He also thinks they could produce one million consoles per month
  • Japanese launch for Project Cafe in April
  • Also possible that Nintendo could stockpile systems and launch simultaneously in September

iNintendo.net Feature: E3 2011 Predictions by the iNintendo Staff (That Includes Me)

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword gets delayed to Project Cafe

This would be terrible, but considering Nintendo did the exact same thing with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, it certainly isn't impossible. It almost feels like Skyward Sword will make the change to Project Cafe, since we know so little about the game. The only thing really keeping it back is Miyamoto's insistance to use Wii Motion Plus with Skyword Sword, but wait... Project Cafe is rumored to make use of Wii controllers as well. Don't be surprised if this happens, but feel free to be enraged.

Huge Rumor: "Project Cafe" Specs Revealed

These are most likely fake if only based on the specs for storage space. I find it highly unlikely Nintendo is going to jump from 512 MB of flash memory to a 250 GB hard drive. I would gladly welcome a great hard drive as my Wii is constantly being shuffled and it is quite annoying. Bluray discs would also be a welcome feature as well as all of the HD outputs.

Rumor: The Last Story Headed to Europe *Update*

Now that Xenoblade Chronicles is headed to Europe, one would think Nintendo will also bring its other impressive RPG The Last Story. If this newest rumor is to be believed then The Last Story will indeed make its way to European turf. A Nintendo representative "confirmed" that the tile is coming at the recent London MCM expo. I'm sure most of this will be cleared up at E3, and with any luck Pandora's Tower will also receive a confirmation.

**Update** Source

Looks like creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has also confirmed that The Last Story will be coming to Europe. We only have eight days until E3 2011, so I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any The Last Story info!

Nintendo Life: 99Bullets (DSiWare) Review

"The shoot 'em up genre hasn't exactly seen a lot of love on the DSiWare service to date, but EnjoyUp! Games is looking to change that with the release of 99Bullets. While the basic core of the game does revolve around an old-school shooter premise, there's a unique twist that injects a very puzzle-like atmosphere into the mix."

Zelda Williams in a "Super Secret Nintendo Shoot"

Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, has been tweeting about partaking in a Nintendo shoot for a rumored upcoming promotional video. NeoGAF has also pointed out that the set has a very "Cafe" like feel and may be related to upcoming Nintendo E3 announcements, or the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. I'd expect this video to surface sometime next week during Nintendo's E3 conference, or within the supplemental material Nintendo posts on the official Nintendo E3 webpage. Oh, yes she was named after Princess Zelda.

Rumor: Professor Layton and the Last Specter Could be Coming to North America

Level-5, developer of the Professor Layton series, has recently filed a trademark for Professor Layton and the Last Specter in the United States. It was originally known as Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute.

A Look Back at Video & Arcade Top 10

Most Canadian gamers will most certainly remember this old TV show, and a little song called "It's letter time, it's letter time". As a kid I could not wait to sit down and watch the newest episode of Video & Arcade Top 10, because at the time it was one of the only ways to get information on new video games, well besides Nintendo Power of course. For those that aren't familiar, Video & Arcade Top 10 was a TV show featuring competitive gameplay between four gamer kids. To win, the kid had to come out on top of whatever objective was thrown their way in the chosen game. Games could range from NES to SNES and Genesis and pretty much any current console at the time.

A friend reminded me of the show last night, and I went searcing for some videos to watch, but what I found was much better than just a few videos. A user on YouTube has uploaded some segments from Video & Arcade Top 10 from a VHS they found. I have compiled all of the videos into a single playlist that you can watch right here on Play Nintendo. If you like the videos head over to YouTube and leave a comment for the person that made this all possible.

Wiiloveit.com: Gem Quest: 4 Elements (DS) Review

"After having experienced more than a fair share of match-three titles on DS and Wii, I was a little wary about playing through Gem Quest: 4 Elements. Last time I played one of these games, I told myself I needed a good, long break specifically from rehashed match-three puzzlers. But I'm happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised by Storm City Games' latest DS title. Although you may not think so after giving it a quick glance, Gem Quest: 4 Elements is actually a good game. "

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D Coming Late 2011

During the latest podcast with Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear, it was revealed that Snake Eater 3D will be coming to the 3DS later this year. No other details we're revealed about the upcoming title, because Kojima simply answered the question with a "yes" answer during a yes/no segment of his podcast. But we already know it will be a port of Metal Gear Solid 3 with obvious 3D enhancements. I would expect more information to follow after E3 this year.

Huge Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 5 Headed to 3DS?

Could Metal Gear Solid 5 really come to the 3DS? A poster over at the NeoGAF forums seems to think so, because they apparently have a 100% credible source. Obviously this could be just a case of blowing smoke, but if there is truth in the rumor, would you want MGS5 on the 3DS?
Besides confirming the PS3 remake of Peace Walker (likely to be a "PSP Remaster" with possibly 3D support, albeit he couldn't tell for sure), he also revealed that the next installment in the "main" MGS franchise (Metal Gear Solid 5, basically) is scheduled for this generation as a multiplatform release, with PS3, Xbox 360, NGP and "possibly 3DS" mentioned as landing platforms.

I think it would be good to see the title make it to the 3DS, but it would have to feature everything the consoles do otherwise it would be less exciting.

Wiiloveit.com Bust-a-Move Universe (3DS) Review

If you're already really familiar with the antics of the Bust-a-Move games, you should pretty much know what you're getting into without having to do much research. Players control a crane on the bottom of the screen that holds coloured bubbles ready to be fired off. Along the very top of the playing area you'll find an arrangement of bubbles that must be wiped clean before you can advance to the next round. Making matches of like-coloured bubbles is the aim of the game, and if you've never given the formula a try before, you really should get on it. It can be very addicting.

SEGA LEGEND RETURNS ON NINTENDO 3DS
Shinobi is Back in Full 3D After Eight Years
LONDON AND SAN FRANCISCO – (May 26, 2011) – SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced Shinobi exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. Developed by Griptonite Games, Shinobi is the long anticipated return of the fan favorite series and includes the classic side-scrolling action gameplay players have loved since the original. Coming to stores in September 2011, Shinobi introduces several exciting new features such as StreetPass and a large assortment of achievements and challenges to unlock.

“For years the fans have been asking for a new Shinobi,” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing of SEGA West. “With Shinobi on Nintendo 3DS we are able to answer their prayers and bring this legendary series to the next level.”

Shinobi tells the story of Jiro Musashi, the leader of the Oboro clan and father of Joe Musashi, the hero of the first iterations of Shinobi. Players will become a true ninja legend by mastering a brand new combo system switching between melee, ranged and acrobatic attacks. They will also need to rely on Jiro’s ninja magic to get an advantage over their enemies and get out of tight spots.

Shinobi will be released for Nintendo 3DS in September 2011.

Triforce (Stands in Line for Nintendo Consoles Triforce) Talks Zelda Timeline

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D New Features Trailer

First Look at Sonic Generations 3DS (Scans and Details)

  • The Nintendo 3DS version is being co-developed by Sonic Team and Dimps.
  • The director of the 3DS version is Tetsu Katano, who directed Sonic and the Black Knight.
  • 2D side-scrolling gameplay for both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic.
  • Momentum based gameplay and platforming are fully featured in the Classic Sonic gameplay.
  • Modern Sonic plays a lot like the Sonic Rush games and Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colours.
  • Nintendo 3DS version will have exclusive stages and boss stages.
  • Green Hill Zone will be the only shared stage across all versions.
  • Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is confirmed for the Nintendo 3DS version.
  • Story has some differences between the console and Nintendo 3DS versions, but will be fundamentally the same.
  • Console version will have many characters, but the Nintendo 3DS version will only feature the ones who are integral to the story.
  • There is no Wii version. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka says this is because “The primary goal for the console versions of Generations was reimagining the series’s classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics.”
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s Launch Base Zone ‘Big Arm’ boss fight is in the game, which suggests that stage is also in the game.
  • Classic Eggman appears in the above mentioned boss.
  • Exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version are challenges that you can unlock via StreetPass or Play Coins.
  • The game also features an exclusive two-player race mode via local wireless connection.
  • Modern Sonic stages take advantage of the 3D feature more than the Classic Sonic stages. An example shown and detailed is a part in the Green Hill Zone where Modern Sonic smashes through the bottom of a giant totem pole. The camera then moves to the front of Sonic and lets you see the rest of the pole collapse behind Sonic as he escapes.
  • The 3D depth is also highlighted when Modern Sonic occasionally moves between the foreground and the background.
  • Jun Senoue and his music team are working on the music for the game.
  • Nintendo Power thinks the handful of tracks they’ve heard so far are “fantastic”.
  • Special Stages are confirmed and are designed in Sonic Heroes style. As expected, you earn Chaos Emeralds from these stages. Whether or not Super Sonic will be your reward for earning all Chaos Emeralds is unclear right now.
None of this is possible without Nintendo Power, so you should buy a copy when it lands next week.
