The Sun Heating up Nintendo Fans Again, Claims that Dizziness the cause for 3DS Price Cut
The Sun has previously published claims of users experiencing headaches and dizziness following play sessions with a Nintendo 3DS. Now they are claiming that these bouts of dizziness is the cause for the Nintendo 3DS price drop. As we all know, this is the furthest from the actual truth. Nintendo is seeing reduced sales across the entirety of their current offerings which has resulted in a poor financial performance for the three month period ending June. Not necessarily due to dizziness.
As a gamer, I have previously atoned to the fact that I experience headaches after long sessions no matter the console. This can include watching movies and TV, as well as browsing the Internet. In fact, after visitng The Sun, I can say that it does indeed make me nauseous.

Nintendo 3DS will be Sold at A Loss Following Price Cut
Due to some financial troubles, Nintendo shockingly announced a price drop for its 3D handheld on Thursday. Revenue dropped about 50% (¥25.5 billion/$328 million) for the three month period ending in June 2011. Sales are down all across the board and not just on the Nintendo 3DS front. Wii sales are down 49% compared to this quarter of last year; Nintendo DS sales were down 54%. Software for the Wii and Nintendo DS respectively were down 52% and 46%. Not incredibly surprising considering the lack of quality content Nintendo has provided as a first party company so far this year.
Following the price drop, Nintendo 3DS handhelds will be sold at a loss. To make up for this loss, Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata will be taking a 50% pay cut. Satoru Iwata and his board of directors hold themselves accountable for the poor financial performance, which will also see a 20%-30% pay cut for the board of directors.
Nintendo shares also dropped 12% following the release of its financials. Former Nintendo president, Hiroshi Yamauchi, has reportedly loss about $300 Million with regards to his 10% stock in the company. This may seem like a doom and gloom situation, and it most certainly can be, but Nintendo is definitely ready to bounce back. Cutting the 3DS price will no doubt increase sales for both the hardware and software alike. Not to mention the great first party lineup coming this fall including: Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 3D (MK7), Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Star Fox 64 3D.

Netflix Used the Most on the Wii
While the PC is the most used platform for Netflix, the Wii is the king of the console mountain. 25% of Netflix users are watching movies/TV on their Wii as opposed to the 13% and 12% of the PS3 and X-Box 360 respectively. While I can't personally speak for the other consoles, I did give the trial a test run on the Wii and I was pleasantly surprised.
While I have problems watching YouTube and other video streaming sites on the Wii, Netflix worked flawlessly. I never experienced lag, or slow loading times; two things that may contribute to a high user rate with Nintendo's Wii. Not to mention that the Wii Remote is pretty much identical to a TV remote.

Operation Moonfall Shows Nintendo that Fans want Majora's Mask 3D
Eiji Aonuma revealed in a recent interview that if there was enough fan interest in a 3D remake of Majora's Mask, then one would certainly be considered. With the success of Ocarina of Time 3D, and the current fan base for Majora's Mask, Nintendo would be silly to ignore the gamers' demands.
Fans have begun to flock towards Operation Moonfall. It's objective: show Nintendo that there is an interest in a 3D remake of Majora's Mask. It's a little different than Operation Rainfall simply because Eiji Aonuma stated that the remake would be considered if fans wanted the game.
So, how do you get involved? There are a few ways actually. First you can visit the official website for Operation Moonfall and sign the petition. You can follow @OpMoonfall on Twitter and Like them on Facebook. There are more ways to get involved, so check out the official website for that.

Capcom has brought on a very unwanted and unnecessary PR mess by blaming the fans for its decision to discontinue the project. Now that fans are beginning to band together, Capcom may be forced to reassess the current situation. If it's the fans support they want, then that is what they'll get.

Nintendo 3DS has some drawing power and what this tells me is that with good software and additional color choices, Nintendo should have no problem seeing sales soar. I'm sure with the release of Super Mario 3DS we will be seeing a lot more of these sales increases.

Coming up on Play Nintendo
It's been a few weeks since I've written a feature, but after Capcom's recent cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 I feel inspired to write something. So keep an eye out for an article either tomorrow or Friday regarding Mega Man Legends 3 drama.
Tomorrow, I will be working to get my review on Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident published. I said that it would come tomorrow, so that's the end goal. As far as other reviews go, I have been playing a lot of Final Fantasy III/VI, so expect that to drop sometime soon. No expected date has been decided as of yet.
Other retro reviews will also be on the way, however, it makes sense to coincide them with upcoming Virtual Console/eShop releases, so expect to see some of that. For example, Mario's Picross is a game that I've played thoroughly, and it was released recently in Europe on the eShop, so a review for the game would make sense. If it is released in North America, expect me to get on it a lot sooner.
That's about all I have to say for now. If you're interested in doing Retro/Wii/Nintendo DS/3DS reviews drop me an e-mail with a full sample review (could be something I've already done, could be something new). If you do retro reviews, rate the game out of 5, and follow this rating scale for Wii/DS/3DS titles. Retro ratings are also explained in there as well. Oh, you probably need somewhere to send your e-mails, right? Send over your review samples to employment @ playnintendo.ca. These positions are only voluntary, as the site makes zero revenue at the moment. I can't make any promises, so I won't even dare.
Have a good one peeps!

Nintendo Rep Says GameCube Software Will be Downloadable on Wii U **UPDATED**

UPDATE: Nintendo has since made a statement regarding downloadable GameCube games on the Wii U. Nintendo states that the Wii U won't play GameCube games, but they aren't confirming downloadable GameCube software.
NG: I noticed on backwards compatibility at the press conference that the GameCube was missing. Why is this?
AM: You know it’s interesting that you bring up backwards compatibility and Nintendo’s history usually goes back one system. The Wii was compatible with GameCube and Wii U will be compatible with Wii and that’s pretty traditional in launches from Nintendo.
NG: So the Wii U will not support the discs or accessories?
AM: Actually the GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare.

Does Nintendo Make Too Many Promises? IGN Weighs In on Nintendo's Many Promises
"So many promises, so little time. After sweeping the industry for years with bold and innovative technology like Wii and the Nintendo DS, the Big N is struggling to move into its next era. The DS has stepped back for the 3DS. The Wii has stepped back as well... yet its successor, Wii U, is a year or more away."

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Master Quest is Difficult
"I finished playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Master Quest a couple weeks ago and I thought that I could share with you my thoughts on the difficulty. As I’m sure you know, there are several factors to the Master Quest that increase the difficulty level. The main thing being that the dungeons have more monsters and different puzzles. I owned the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time Master Quest, so I was pretty familiar with these. The other things to add to the difficulty are the double damage taken by Link and the entire world is mirrored."

Some People Experiencing Problems with Netlix on their Nintendo 3DS
Netflix has been giving some people small issues on the Nintendo 3DS. One of those issues seems to be with freezing, therefore not letting you exit, or bring up the home menu. It doesn't look like it's an issue for everyone that downloads Netflix, but it is happening.
One of the folks over at Zelda Informer has written an article about the problem they've been having with Netflix.
One of the folks over at Zelda Informer has written an article about the problem they've been having with Netflix.
"Just as I was about to go back to my main menu, the movie froze and started to work on retrieving the video. I tried to exit out, but it wouldn't let me and continued to try to retrieve data. I pressed the B button a zillion times, but still it wouldn't do anything. After about five seconds of staring at the screen, I knew it wasn't 'retrieving' anything. "They also explain that Netflix did start working properly, but it's good to note that this problem does exist. Read more about this particular issue over at Zelda Informer.
