Play Nintendo has seen various changes throughout the year, and overcome many challenges. We have switched from a squished Nintendo aggregate to a more focused approach with news delivery. No more junk posts for the sake of having something to post, if it doesn't up the quality of this blog, then it doesn't make the cut. I've also changed the layout many times, and have now settled down with the current design for the foreseeable future.
As for challenges, sometimes, I felt like giving up and saying eff this blog thing, but there have been a few people that participated in the comments section that made the journey worthwhile. You guys know who you are! Without you, there is no Play Nintendo.
Other then the determination to keep going, there is also the issue of not owning a 3DS for all of 2011. Since we're not qualified enough to receive press goodies, we couldn't get our hands on a 3DS early like many other websites. In my opinion this hurt our growth a lot, but I had to persevere and continue providing retro reviews, Top 10 lists, and of course Wii and DS Reviews. Which was only possible due to a working relationship with Nintendo of Canada through their lender program which is handled by PR group, Cohn & Wolfe. Without them, there would be absolutely no new reviews, since I'm not currently working and consider this my full time job. In the end, no money equals no new games to review.
So, after 2850 posts, 67,150 pageviews, and 365 days, Play Nintendo is here for another year. Let's make this one even stronger!
Thank you to everyone!!
What is the lender program? And how do you qualify for such a thing when you are just starting up? I'm looking into how to get review copies and such but I don't really know where to start.
