Nintendo will support Digital Downloads for Third Party Developers

?

Nintendo announced support for digital downloads on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U for their first party games starting with New Super Mario Bros. 2. I have now learned (thanks to IGN) that Nintendo will also support digital downloads for third parties as well! Apparently, they will have a program set up for third parties interested in digital distribution, but didn't elaborate further on the program.

  1. I hope this is just like the PSN or XBL, where companies are able to place their retail games up for download, without restrictions on size and all that silly stuff.

    1. I'm with you, I just hope Nintendo doesn't drip feed major third party releases to us with the weekly Nintendo Download.

As for size limitations, I'm starting to think maybe the Wii U will have a hard drive to allow companies more wiggle room with regards to size, etc.
