Nintendo has revealed more details on the upcoming Mario Tennis Open in a press release today. Gamers can expect to play online and locally with up to four players. The best news here? Gamers can compete against each other, or team up and take on the competition in doubles matches! Nintendo will also have monthly leaderboards and players can win Victory Medals for every player they defeat.
There are also some small details on the Ink Showdown game as well. In this game, Piranha Plants will spit ink at you while you try to hit tennis balls away from your opponent. Of course, you must also destroy the ink balls before they splatter against your screen.
As for StreetPass features, gamers can compete in StreetPass Matches, or cooperate in Ring Shot challenges. Sounds like the computer will fill in for the people you meet via StreetPass. You can also show off your Mii characters complete with any customization.
There will also be some unlockable characters, which I have come to expect from these type of Nintendo games. Unlocking characters can take place through gameplay, the traditional method, or through the usage of QR codes. Below are three of the announced unlockable characters, so don't read on unless you want to know them:
