Wreck-It Ralph Arcade Game Exists! (Fix-It Felix Jr. Review)

Chances are you've already seen the above trailer for Wreck-It Ralph. So, I probably don't have to say anything as this has been taking the gaming community by storm. But for those unfamiliar with the movie, Wreck-It Ralph is an animated film that is host to a lot of familiar video game characters. There's Bowser, Q-Bert, Eggman (Ahem, Dr. Robotnik), Zangief and more. The main character, Ralph, is the bad guy inside an arcade game called Fix-It Felix Jr. Ralph has grown tired of being a villain, leaves the game and sets out to become a hero. Here's the really cool part; Fix-It Felix Jr. actually exists.

In a brilliant marketing effort on Disney's part, they have created a working version of Fix-It Felix Jr. and surprisingly, it's pretty good!

In Fix-It Felix Jr., you control Felix Jr. and are tasked with fixing up a building. A building that has been destroyed by bad guy Ralph! It's reminiscent of 80s arcade games that are extremely easy to learn, yet challenging to master.

Each stage will have a set of broken windows and as Felix Jr. you must fix them. You move Felix around the windows by using the Arrow Keys and Fix windows by pressing spacebar.  However, it isn't all fun and games as Ralph tries to stop you by throwing bricks down at your head. If he hits you with a brick you will lose a life. You must also watch out for Duck Hunt like birds coming your way as well. Luckily, some awesome citizens will bake you a pie, a pie that gives you 1000 points!

As you start to move up the building, more obstacles will appear that restrict your movement. Objects like signs and overhangs will get in your way, so you must navigate around them. This makes the game a lot more challenging as you still have to avoid Ralph's barrage of bricks and incoming ducks.

Disney has also done a fantastic job of recreating that arcade feel with retro inspired graphics and nostalgic music. Overall, this game is worth a look even if you have no intentions of seeing the movie this November.
